F. V. Dix

F. V. Dix, know to everybody simply as Vernon, was a miner and entertainer during the 1950s and 1960s, struggling to make ends meet for his wife and five children. He later turned his outgoing personality to selling and won a number of awards for his achievements. Later, his creativity focussed him on his engineering ability, retiring from work during his fifties as a result of an accident whilst repairing an excavator.
Vernon’s love of music and words came together in his poetry as a befitting tribute to his life, his passions and his insights. Living in the Rhymney Valley for most of his life, Vernon was always happy to reminisce and tell the many stories of his life, his travels and his family.
